Feel free to use these story starters as inspiration to begin your own writing project. They specifically exclude the use of gender pronouns to allow you, as the author, to make as many choices for the characters as possible and to foster inclusive writing.

Jo had always enjoyed getting lost in the fantasy worlds created by skilled authors but this, this was supposed to be reality. Things like this weren't supposed to be possible.
The turf was hard, still frozen from the harsh winter that was on it's way out.
"How the hell am I supposed to bury a body in this?"
Reese needed to work quickly to solve this problem — or face the consequences.
Nic scanned the room to make sure no one was looking. This needed to be handled discretely and discretion wasn't exactly one of Nic's strong points.
Bio
You may notice that all of my pieces are written in first person.

This is done to allow the reader to choose the gender and overall appearance of the main character for themselves. It also illustrates that surface appearance is not what matters. What is important are the thoughts, actions, experiences, and feelings of the person beneath.
I have a B.A. Honours degree in English and an M.A. in Novel Writing.

I try not to constrain myself with too many labels and I strive to live a life of empathy and compassion.

I hope that my work is able to provide you with some amusement and innocent diversion, while also encouraging introspection.
